Abstract
Self-diffusion coefficients in platinum have been measured, in the temperature range between 1250°C and 1725°C, by measuring the decrease of activity at the surface of the specimen during diffusion. The experimental results can be summarized by the following relationship: D = 0.22 exp (−2.89 ev/kT) cm2 sec−1. The consistency of self-diffusion data with the results from quenching and annealing experiments with pure platinum is discussed. Keywords
