Abstract
The Lax pair formalism for finite degree-of-freedom Hamiltonian systems is extended to include systems for which the eigenvalues of the operator are degenerate. This extension is applied to a system of restricted multiple three-wave interactions which describes the interaction of a single, low-frequency, internal ocean wave with higher-frequency external waves.
