Abstract
The fuel savings that can be achieved in the manufacture of Portland cement clinker by means of mineralizers are relatively small. Further, the most effective mineralizers such as fluorine are known to have adverse effect on cement quality. However, research has shown that the retention of controlled levels of mineralizers in Portland cement clinker can result in significant quality improvements and this may provide a greater incentive for their use. T he mode of action of one particular mineralizer combination is discussed and results are illustrated with reference to clinkers prepared both in the laboratory and on the production scale. Keywords
