The Mechanism of CO Mitigation in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells Using Dilute H[sub 2]O[sub 2] in the Anode Humidifier

Abstract
Poisoning in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) can be mitigated by using dilute in the anode humidifier. However, mitigation appears to be provided by an “unintended” bleed produced by decomposition of in the humidifier, rather than by vapors transported from the humidifier to the anode. mitigation was effective when significant levels of were present in the anode feed. The effectiveness of mitigation disappeared when noncatalytic materials were used to suppress decomposition in the humidifier.
