The contraceptive action of silastic implants containing a new progestion ST-1435 [16-methylene-17.alpha.-acetoxy-19-norprogesterone] was investigated in 285 women of reproductive age. A group of 52 women (group A) received 3 capsules containing each 35 mg of the steroid. A 2nd group of 48 women (group B) received 4 capsules and a 3rd and larger group of 185 women (group C) received 5 capsules. No pregnancies occurred during 530 mo. of use in group A. In 502 mo. of use recorded for group B, 1 pregnancy occurred. In group C, 2.142 mo. were recorded. One pregnancy was reported at the end of 11 mo. of use and another at the end of 19 mo. of use.
