Effects of conditioned appetitive stimuli on the acquisition and extinction of a runway response.

Abstract
For 2 groups of 7 female Wistar rats, a stimulus was associated in 1 situation with reward (S+) or nonreward (S-) independently of the Ss' behavior. Then in another situation, a runway, this stimulus was introduced while 7 Ss were in the start box. The S+ facilitated running S- impaired running in extinction tests, but no comparable effects were found in acquisition tests. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
