On fluid circulation around null-flux curves at earth's core-mantle boundary

Abstract
Under appropriate fluid dynamic assumptions the “null-flux curves” of Backus are sites of accelerated, horizontal geostrophic (rather than magnetostrophic) flow just inside earth's core-mantle boundary. Therefore, the fluid circulation around such curves evolves in time according to the Bjerknes circulation theorem. Some geophysical implications are noted.Keywords
