Abstract
This review summarizes recent reports in several areas: the mechanism of efflux of cholesterol from cells to HDL; the binding of HDL to cell membranes; the identity of plasma acceptors of cell cholesterol; the influence of apoA-II on the metabolism and function of HDL; the role played by cholesteryl ester transfer protein in regulating HDL; and the relationship between cholesterol esterification and the distribution of HDL subpopulations. Keywords
