Abstract
Tree People is a Los Angeles based private non-profit organization comprising primarily of volunteer laymen who are involved in the planting and maintenance of one million new trees for the 1984 Olympic Games. This paper relates the history of the Tree People and how both individuals and community groups have been involved in the planning of the Olympic Urban Forest. Some of the successes have been highlighted and the lessons learnt from the past 12 years are explored.
