Grain Protectants for Seed Corn2

Abstract
Pirimiphos methyl, chlorpyrifos-methyl, fenitrothion, and a diatomaceous earth dust treated with malathion were tested as broad-spectrum protectants of seed corn against stored-product insects over a 21-month period involving 2 sales seasons. For the 1st 4 months after treatment and for the 8th to 16th month, the seed corn was kept in cold storage. At the dosages used, the candidate materials were as effective or more effective than malathion emulsion.
