Abstract
Argas (Microargas) transversus Banks, 1902, a remarkable, minute parasite of Geochelone elephantopus subspp. in the Galápagos Islands, was previously known from only the poorly preserved male holotype and a single larva. From numerous recently collected samples certain details are added to the earlier redescription of the male, and the female and nymph are described. The marked sexual dimorphism in dorsal integumental structure is unique in the family Argasidae. All integumental and setal characteristics of this species differ greatly from those in other argasids. Keywords
