Abstract
Topics studied are the following: the in vitro immune responses to stimulation with phytohemagglutinin, pokeweed mitogen, concanavalin A and purified protein derivative in lymphocytes from uremic patients before and after hemodialysis; stimulation of normal lymphocytes in the presence of AB serum and plasma from uremic patients before and after hemodialysis; and the influence of the same plasma factors on 1-way mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) responses of uremic/normal and normal/normal lymphocytes. Uremic plasma contains nondialyzable factors that can suppress uremic/normal and normal/normal lymphocyte responses in MLC. Uremic and normal lymphocytes show asynchronic MLC culture kinetics, indicating a changed immune status of uremic patients manifested at the cellular and at the humoral level. This publication has 17 references indexed in Scilit:
