Abstract
Radioelement concentrations in near surf ace material, measured by gamma-ray spectrometry, are related to lithology. Subtle variations in these concentrations, displayed on the ternary colour map, can aid in geological mapping. An automatic method is described for the production of ternary maps with strong colour contrast regardless of the ratio range in the data, and the result of applying the method to airborne gamma-ray spectrometry data from the south coast of Newfoundland is shown. Keywords
