Abstract
Bimetallic Pt–Ru catalysts have been prepared over a full range of composition from pure platinum to pure ruthenium by co-exchange on functionalized carbon supports. This method leads to small particles, homogeneous in size and composition, as shown by electron microscopy. These catalysts have been used in the hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde. A maximum of selectivity towards cinnamyl alcohol as well as activity is observed for a ruthenium content of 30% on active charcoal. On graphite maximum activity is observed for a ruthenium content of 45 %.Keywords
