Abstract
A series of experiments using statistical techniques for the filing and retrieval of business text are described. The text documents used in the experiments are a combination of memos, letters, reports and informal messages. The results show that these techniques are effective in the office environment and, using this as a basis, recommendations are made for the design of the text filing and retrieval component of an office information system. Keywords
