The Importance of Inferior Vena Cavography in Placement of the Mobin-Uddin Vena Caval Filter

Abstract
Although the Mobin-Uddin umbrella filter is relatively easy to insert, problems have arisen when the filter slips or when anatomical variances have been encountered. Inferior vena cavography prior to and following placement of the filter will allow accurate placement or correction of misplacement of the filter. Two cases are presented to illustrate the value to this procedure.
