Abstract
Passive Q switching in a CO2, laser was observed using allene and methyl chloride gases.Investigation of the high resolution spectra of these two gases gave the assignment of the pulsing lines. A theoretical scheme was used to interpret this phenomenon. Calculations show the important role of rotational relaxation in the absorbers.
