Abstract
Cross sections for the elastic low-energy electron scattering on the singlet-state metastable helium atom have been calculated in 0.01-10-eV energy range, by making use of an extended Hartree-Fock theory in the frozen-core approximation. Both the polarization and exchange effects have been accounted for, within the single-channel scattering approximation model. Computed results are compared with calculations by other authors and with the available experimental data. Keywords
