Preparation of 6′-Substituted Maltoses

Abstract
A relatively simple procedure for the preparation of 6′-substituted maltoses has been developed through the action of Aspergillus oryzae amylase on mono-substituted cyclohexaamyloses. 6′-Azido-, -chloro-, -bromo-, -iodo-, and -tosyl-maltose have been prepared in this way. 6′-Deoxy- and 6′-amino-6′-deoxy-maltose were easily prepared from the 6′-iodo- and 6′-azido-maltoses respectively.
