Abstract
Whereas it is impossible to generalize about education in America or Great Britain, because of the wide standards and variations in those countries, it is much easier to do so about education in the U.S.S.R. because of the similar organization and similar standards throughout the whole of the Union. There are variations from republic to republic, but the general pattern is everywhere the same. This article will be concerned mainly with physics teaching as that is the aspect of education the author went to see, though it will necessarily include reference to the general system of education.
