The Role of the Consultant in Self-Directed Group Work

Abstract
This paper considers the role and tasks of a consultant to practitioners using the "self-directed group work" approach, a particular form of social action intervention which has developed in Britain. It outlines the key values of the approach, which must also underlie the consultancy, and illustrates some of the situations and dilemmas which the consultant may help to resolve.
