Abstract
Co-directional coupling between modes with different velocities can be used to realise an optical filter. This paper shows that a spatially-variant coupling can be designed such that the frequency response has desirable characteristics, for example good sidelobe suppression. The method exploits the fact that the impulse response has finite duration.© (1986) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
