Abstract
The transmission of a thick sample of 99.2% Ag109 has been measured for incident neutron energies from 20 keV to 30 eV. The total cross section from 320 to 30 eV has been fitted in detail with the Breit-Wigner single-level parameters for 15 resonances in this energy region. An acceptable fit was obtained for a common radiation width of 120±10 meV and a radius parameter R of (0.63±0.01)×1012 cm. From the average cross section in the keV region a neutron strength function of (0.54±0.10)×104 was obtained.
