Abstract
A novel method of formulating and solving two-dimensional multiple scattering problems is described. The formalism is based on the concept of the ``induction'' of multipoles in a scatterer by an incident wave, and the subsequent coupling of multiple scattering obstacles through such ``induction''. This model is applied to the formulation of the matrix equations describing the multiple scattering of scalar waves by two- and three-cylinder configurations. Predictions for the latter case are compared with detailed near-field measurements at 23.5 GHz of the intensity and phase of the diffracted wave behind three 1.0λ-diam conducting cylinders. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
