Abstract
In a study of television's role in the definition of the explanations 120 British children gave about other countries, television's influence was found to be limited by the socio-cultural context of Britain's strategic relations with other countries, and the children's social class location. Television was most important as a source of information about the super-powers (the USA and USSR), with both entertainment and news/documentary formats interacting to perpetuate imagery and emotional reactions. Keywords
