Abstract
We consider the propagation of a Gaussian beam in a strongly focusing medium with random deviations from uniformity. We compute the intensity and intensity fluctuations on the beam axis and the mean power of the fundamental mode when the random inhomogeneities are weak and the distance between source and observation point is large. We also compute the mean power transferred to each higher mode. Keywords
