Abstract
A bound-state correction is suggested for the Thomson-Gryzinski impulse approximation. Also, it is noted that Slater's rules yield estimates of kinetic-energy expectation values which are more accurate than those used in previous applications of this approximation. These corrections are important for neutral atoms with outer electrons in a state and for all negative ions. Comparison is made with experiment and previous theoretical results.
