Supracricoid partial laryngectomy

Abstract
The techniques of supracricoid partial laryngectomy were introduced in Europe in an effort to bridge the gap between traditional conservative laryngeal operations, such as vertical partial laryngectomy and supraglottic laryngectomy, and total laryngectomy. They seem to have become popular in Europe because of their predictable functional outcome, which includes speech and swallowing without a permanent tracheostomy, and their reproducible oncologic outcome in selected cases of laryngeal carcinoma. This review looks at the recent literature describing these procedures.
