Abstract
3 immuno-globulins have been identified in the rat; IgG, IgA and IgM. Thymectomized rats show a deficiency of IgA but normal IgG and IgM levels. The antibody response to protein antigens is defective after thymec-tomy, that to carbohydrate antigens is normal. Rat anti-BSA precipitin resides primarily in IgA, anti-BSA hemagglutinin, at least in considerable part in IgG. Rat antityphoid "O" agglutinin resides in IgM.Keywords
