Abstract
7289 Preventing wind-induced oscillations of structures of circular section D. E. WALSHE, BSC. BSC' L. R. WOOTTON, A number of methods of preventing wind-excited oscillations structures of circular of section are discussed. It is shown that there are three main directions in which a solution may be sought. (U) The structure ensures that the critical wind speed for the onset of instability is higher than the maximum expected wind speed; the critical wind speed is proportional to the product of the natural frequency and the diameter of the structure, and thereforemay be increased by an increase in one or both parameters... 7289 Preventing wind-induced oscillations of structures of circular section D.
