Abstract
Quantum deformation of the U(4) supset SO(4) supset SO(3) chain is discussed. The deformed version of this chain is then applied to describe the rotation-vibration spectra of diatomic molecules. The results show that the six-parameter formula obtained from the U(4) supset SOq(4) supset SOq'(3) algebra chain, where q, and q' are two independent parameters, can be used to sum up the Dunham expansion fully.
