Abstract
Quantum deformation of the U(4) supset SO(4) supset SO(3) chain is discussed. The deformed version of this chain is then applied to describe the rotation-vibration spectra of diatomic molecules. The results show that the six-parameter formula obtained from the U(4) supset SOq(4) supset SOq'(3) algebra chain, where q, and q' are two independent parameters, can be used to sum up the Dunham expansion fully. Keywords
