Abstract
A questionnaire composed of an authoritarian measure and two assessments of attitudes toward police was administered to 103 Ss. Large positive correlations obtained between authoritarianism and attitudes toward police. This relationship may be partially explained as a function of high authoritarian S's insecurity, as a result of which the police become a mediating force in an otherwise threatening environment. No sex differences were observed, but age was correlated inversely with both authoritarianism and attitudes toward police. Keywords
