Abstract
The band-structure problem of chromatography is approached in this paper using concepts from discrete probability theory and passing to the limit for the continous case. Both the one-site and two-site problems are treated under the stipulation of linear adsorption properties. A two-site expression has been derived which is complicated only by the need to evaluate one integral numerically. The band structure is given for two hypothetical cases, one involving one-site and the other the more complicated two-site processes. Keywords
