Abstract
This paper deals with two similar problems concerned with the interpretation of strain gauge readings when more than the required minimum of three gauges are applied, (a) on the cross-section of a structural member and (b) in a strain gauge rosette. In the latter case the best method of using the four readings from a standard 45° rosette is explained. Keywords
