A pilot study of the benefit of colposcopy as a further screening procedure within the community health service

Abstract
This paper describes a method of managing the problem of patients with recurrent inflammation as shown by cervical smear tests and the administrative arrangements and costs entailed. Co-operation between community and hospital permits further screening by colposcopy and colpopho-tography with identification of a significant subgroup (24 per cent) who required hospital referral and return of 50 per cent of the patients to routine intervals of cytology screening.
