Abstract
The minimum essentials for pigment production by Serratia organisms are Mg, a sulfate, a phosphate, and an organic source of N; Zn and Fe are not essential. Sufficient Mg may dissolve from soft glass tubes to induce slight pigment formation. Max. pigment production is obtained when the medium contains 0.001% MgCl2, 0.1% K2SO4, 0.1% K2HPO4, 0.5% asparagine, and 0.1% ammonium citrate. A pH of 6.5 is most favorable for pigment production. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
