Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 61-year-old physician was admitted to the hospital because of pruritus.He had been well until 19 months previously, when diarrhea developed, accompanied by abdominal distress. He took several doses of prochlorperazine and believed that he had mild scleral icterus four or five days later. All symptoms subsided in a week without further treatment or investigation, and he continued an active medical practice and played squash. Eight months before admission the ingestion of rich, spicy foods was followed by recurrence of abdominal discomfort, and he again took 5 to 10 doses of prochlorperazine. During the next 10 . . .
