Abstract
The diethyldithio-carbamate method for estimation of Cu in biological material was improved in simplicity, speed, accuracy, and sensitivity. Rapid wet digestion, with a combination of sulphuric, perchloric and nitric acids in 8 X lin. Pyrex test tubes, was employed for destruction of organic matter, followed by deionization of Fe with citrate or pyrophosphate in strongly alkaline medium. Subsequent color formation and extraction with amyl alc. were effected in the combustion tube itself. With quantities such as 5 ml. blood containing 3 [mu]g Cu, the final reading was either colorimetric or photometric, but with limited material from small laboratory animals, involving detn. of real amts. of Cu as low as 0.3 [mu]g., photometric finish with a low wave-length light filter was essential. 30 detns. per day were completed by a single analyst. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
