Abstract
Tests are suggested to verify the hypothesis that thermal capture proceeds via the transition and that approximately 10% of the observed capture cross section is due to interaction effects. It is shown that measurements of the " polarization effect" using polarized neutrons and protons are capable of testing the predictions of the hypothesis to within 1%.
