Studies on the Separation of Xanthate Related Compounds Using High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
The use of high performance liquid chromatography for the separation of symmetrical and asymmetrical dixanthogens from themselves and from xanthic esters and xanthates has been demonstrated. The relationship between the structure of the solutes and their chromatographic retention on the reverse-phase column is used to provide a means of qualitative identification of the dixanthogens. Quantitation of the chromatographic peaks has been shown to provide a lower limit of detection for the individual dixanthogens of approximately 10 ng.
