Abstract
We are reporting two patients with pigmented nevi of the sole. In one lesion, a single hair follicle containing a small hair shaft was present. In the other case, histologic sections show multiple abortive hair follicles formed in connection with the lower surface of the epidermis and confined to the area of pigmented nevus. To our knowledge, ectopic hair follicles have never been reported in the plantar surface of the foot. The significance of hair formation in pigmented nevi of this normally hairless skin area is discussed. Keywords
