Studies on the vitreous body. I.

Abstract
No water uptake and no volume increase in 24 hrs. were observed in ox vitreous body treated with solns. of substances favorable to the swelling of gels, such as Na oleate and laurate. These results are not taken as demonstrating that the volume of the vitreous body is incapable of increasing in glaucoma simplex, in which the increase in intraocular pressure is slow, frequently extending over years.
