Abstract
The relationship between leaf rigidity and leaf anatomy was examined in genotypes of Lolium perenne cv. S321. Significant relationships were found between frequency of structural units per mm of leaf width and leaf rigidity. However, in cross section no relationship existed between the relative proportions of leaf tissues and leaf rigidity. The plant‐breeding implications of these results are briefly discussed. Keywords
