Abstract
A new "breast-halving incision" for subcutaneous mastectomy is described. It has particular advantages in the large breast, where the incidence of complications is much higher. Its main disadvantage is the length of the incision, which runs across the equator of the breast. However, subcutaneous mastectomy is not primarily a cosmetic operation. The improved results in immediate reconstruction would seem to justify this approach. Keywords
