Abstract
In 1996, Los Angeles voters passed the park bond measure, Proposition K, to increase andenhance park and recreation space in the city. Using information on the distribution of existingparks in the City of Los Angeles and census data, this report provides a statistical analysis ofaccess to park space enjoyed by children and youth, and by residents according to theirrace/ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Further, a mapping of Prop. K grant allocations bylocation reveals the extent to which the distribution of Prop. K funds has increased access toparks for residents most in need of park space. Keywords
