Abstract
The mictomagnetic property of Cr7Se8 having a monoclinically distorted NiAs‐type crystal structure was studied in the magnetic field up to 108 kOe. The susceptibility anomalies are observed at about 30 and 162 K. The former is considered to relate with an origin of a mictomagnetic behavior of this compound. The latter agrees with the Néel point observed by neutron diffraction study. The magnetization curve up to 108 kOe showed an abrupt increase of magnetization at temperatures lower than 70 K, as well as an ordinary spin flip at higher temperatures. From the measurement of the hysteresis loop between ±108 kOe, it can be considered that there is a mictomagnetic behavior, which is related to the local disturbance of ordering of Cr ion vacancies in this compound. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
