Abstract
The present work is the first attempt to review fully this very poorly studied family. The Australian Leptidae are represented by 66 species distributed among 5 genera; 45 of the species are new: 20 in Chrysopilus, 1 in Austroleptis, 2 in Spania, 7 in Dasyomma, and 15 in Atherimorpha. The increase in the number of known species from 21 to 66, in a family known to have been poorly collected, indicates that a considerably greater number of species awaits description.
