Abstract
In a rapid survey of 10 counties in southern and south-eastern N. Mexico, 41 lots with a total of 604 O. turicata were collected. 8 lots representing 4 counties, Roosevelt, Chaves, Lea, and Hildalgo, were found to harbor relapsing fever spirochetes. These are the first records since that of Banks in 1908. "Borrow pits" along the highway were heavily infested as well as Kangaroo rat mounds obviously used by cottontail rabbits.
