Abstract
Proton NMR imaging of the brain is rapidly becoming established as a useful investigative tool in medicine. The usefulness of the NMR parameters.sbd.spin-lattice relaxation time (T1) and proton density.sbd.in differentiating groups of patients with senile dementia of Alzheimer type and of multi-infarct dementia, from each other, and from elderly controls, is examined. T1 values increase with the severity of dementia. NMR parameters may also be of use in localizing regions of brain damage. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
