Abstract
The authors present experimental results on a nonlinear optical receiver for ultrashort pulse code division multiple access communications which uses nonlinear frequency shift effects in optical fibres to perform intensity discrimination with femtosecond response times. The receiver exhibits a contrast ratio of nearly 1000 for received pulse energies of ~1 pJ.Keywords
